Wine cellar

18.10.2024

Did you know that the historical roots of the ‘Kiendl’ date back to 1572? Originally, today's ‘Kiendl’ was a self-sufficient farm. The road to Hafling ended here in the Naiftal valley. Merano guests found their way to us in the 19th and 20th centuries and were treated to our own speck and wine.

Since then, many things have been remodelled, extended and rebuilt....  However, one jewel has been preserved: the old stone cellar from the 17th century. Our speck used to be ‘smoked’ there. Wine was pressed, aged and stored in the front cellar. The ‘Torggl’, the South Tyrolean name for the wine press, has been preserved. In the coming weeks, a restorer will carefully prepare this historically valuable building for the present.

From April 2025, this historic cellar with walk-in wine cabinet will shine in new splendour and be accessible to all guests.
